Our General and Colorectal Services
Here is a List of our most commonly performed procedure with specific information about each:
Colorectal Cancer Surgery
If discovered early, colorectal cancer often can be cured with surgery alone. Colon resection surgery, which is used to remove diseased portions of the colon, is often performed using minimally invasive or robotic techniques without the need for open abdominal surgery. With more advanced cancer, the treatment is much more involved and often requires radiation and/or chemotherapy.
Colon Resections for Cancer Polyps and Diverticulitis
Diverticulitis occurs when the diverticula become infected or inflamed. It may occur when stool lodges in the openings of diverticula, causing the pouches to swell. Swelling or inflammation may make the wall of the pouch thinner, allowing bacteria from the bowel to infect the cells in the lining.
Colorectal Cancer Screening
Colorectal cancer almost always develops from precancerous polyps (abnormal growths) in the colon or rectum. Screening tests can find precancerous polyps, so that they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Screening tests can also find colorectal cancer early, when treatment works best.
Sphincterotomy or Fissurectomy
The most common surgical treatment for anal fissures is the lateral internal sphincterotomy. This is an outpatient procedure, often performed in a hospital, clinic, or surgery center. The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons reports that sphincterotomies are more than 90 percent successful in the treatment of anal fissures.
A hemorrhoidectomy is the surgical removal of a hemorrhoid, which is an enlarged, swollen and inflamed cluster of vascular tissue combined with smooth muscle and connective tissue located in the lower part of the rectum or around the anus.
Fistulectomy is a surgical procedure where a fistulous tract is excised (cut out) completely. This is compared with fistulotomy, where the fistulous tract is merely laid open to heal.
Bowel incontinence can vary in severity from passing a small amount of feces when breaking wind to total loss of bowel control. It is not life-threatening or hazardous, but it can affect the person’s quality of life, emotional and mental health, and self-esteem.
Anal Wart Removal
Anal warts are found around and inside the anus. They are caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Anal wart surgery is a procedure to remove or destroy anal warts.

What is a colorectal surgeon?
Colorectal surgeons are experts in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of colon and rectal problems. They have completed advanced training in the treatment of colon and rectal problems, in addition to full training in general surgery. Colorectal surgeons treat benign and malignant conditions, perform routine screening examinations and surgically treat problems when necessary.
Payment for non-covered services is due at the time of service. It is the patient’s responsibility to be familiar with their insurance and its financial responsibility provisions.
Co-Payments and Deductibles
Patient co-payments and/or services subject to unmet deductibles are due at the time of service.
I have a question about my bill. Who do I call to resolve this?
Call our Billing Department directly at 954-237-1123, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
Can I pay my bill with a credit card?
In addition to cash or a check, you may pay your account with a credit or debit card. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
Why am I being billed separately by the facility?
An insurance claim or patient statement will be generated for the professional component of any procedure that is performed by our physicians at any of our affiliated facilities. In addition, the facility itself will generate a claim or statement for the facility fee or technical component of the procedure. Also, any anesthesia or pathology (biopsy analysis and results) services will result in separate insurance claims or statements to you directly from the physicians providing these services. Your financial responsibility will be a function of the specific insurance that you have and the patient financial responsibility provisions that it includes. Our staff will make every effort to work with you and make sure that you understand your financial responsibilities based upon your specific insurance plan and its coverage. However, please remember that the ultimate responsibility for understanding and complying with your insurance plan’s requirements and financial responsibilities are yours as the patient.
