Our General and Colorectal Services
Here is a List of our most commonly performed procedure with specific information about each:
Colorectal Cancer Surgery
If discovered early, colorectal cancer often can be cured with surgery alone. Colon resection surgery, which is used to remove diseased portions of the colon, is often performed using minimally invasive or robotic techniques without the need for open abdominal surgery. With more advanced cancer, the treatment is much more involved and often requires radiation and/or chemotherapy.
Colon Resections for Cancer Polyps and Diverticulitis
Diverticulitis occurs when the diverticula become infected or inflamed. It may occur when stool lodges in the openings of diverticula, causing the pouches to swell. Swelling or inflammation may make the wall of the pouch thinner, allowing bacteria from the bowel to infect the cells in the lining.
Colorectal Cancer Screening
Colorectal cancer almost always develops from precancerous polyps (abnormal growths) in the colon or rectum. Screening tests can find precancerous polyps, so that they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Screening tests can also find colorectal cancer early, when treatment works best.
Sphincterotomy or Fissurectomy
The most common surgical treatment for anal fissures is the lateral internal sphincterotomy. This is an outpatient procedure, often performed in a hospital, clinic, or surgery center. The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons reports that sphincterotomies are more than 90 percent successful in the treatment of anal fissures.
Hemorrhoidectomy
A hemorrhoidectomy is the surgical removal of a hemorrhoid, which is an enlarged, swollen and inflamed cluster of vascular tissue combined with smooth muscle and connective tissue located in the lower part of the rectum or around the anus.
Fistulectomy
Fistulectomy is a surgical procedure where a fistulous tract is excised (cut out) completely. This is compared with fistulotomy, where the fistulous tract is merely laid open to heal.
Bowel/Rectal Incontinence
Bowel incontinence can vary in severity from passing a small amount of feces when breaking wind to total loss of bowel control. It is not life-threatening or hazardous, but it can affect the person’s quality of life, emotional and mental health, and self-esteem.
Anal Wart Removal
Anal warts are found around and inside the anus. They are caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Anal wart surgery is a procedure to remove or destroy anal warts.
Testimonials
What People Are Saying
Dr. Snow is phenomenal. He helped me through an ER visit in Memorial Hospital on 3/5/2018 despite being extremely busy on pre-scheduled surgeries. I was in misery and when I saw him enter the room, it was immediately comforting. He did a procedure in a matter of minutes that gave me instant relief. His bedside manner is upbeat and positive which is exactly what a person that feels miserable needs in addition to expertise, experience, and skill. I would recommend him without qualification.
Jorge G. in Pembroke Pines, Florida
Dr. Snow was recommended by my physician and the experience was nothing less than extraordinary. I was late for my 1st appt., came the wrong day for my 2nd appt… Dr. Snow and his staff were still friendly and helpful while addressing my health issue with the utmost professionalism on all levels. When it came time for my (minor) operation – everything went smoothly as planned without a hitch. The Memorial Hospital folks were great – follow-up was painless too! Do not hesitate to use Dr. Snow!

Pros Taguba in Sunrise, FL
I never expected to have an emergency in the middle of the pandemic, especially when at the time everything was closed including most doctors offices. Dr. Snow and his staff were amazing from the time I walked in till the end. I would recommend to anyone needing a consultation in colon and rectal surgery. Keep up the amazing work!
